Rope Burn

Five thousand years ago, rope allowed the ancient Egyptians to move the stones that were used in erecting their monuments and pyramids. Rope Burn results from the skin torn away from the palm of the hand as the rope slips from one's grasp. It is a metaphor for life. No matter the strength of your grip on the present, time marches forward into the future.

Preface

There's a big difference between having something to say and having something worth being said. It is my aim and desire to remove as much clutter (written and visual) as I can, sparing the reader and viewer the torment of sifting through it for themselves, in order to find what nuggets of gold lie hidden in the sand..

Current Projects

1) 'Jesus Days' 1978 - 1982. A series of images taken between 1979 and 1982 before I came out as a gay man while I worked as a Student Evangelist for a InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, a non-denominational Christian organization with chapters on college campuses across America.

2) 'The Long Way Home.' 1978 to 2009. The Kentucky Family Portrait. After several years of photographing my family without any specific reason other than my motivation to capture my surroundings, those I loved and the place in which I grew up, I realized I had started a "project" which I committed myself to explore: my aging parents, my niece and young nephews as they grew from childhood into adolescence and place.
